REI Partners to Empower Indigenous Narratives with Reciprocity Project

Jordan P. Kelley, Content Director, Brand Storytelling

This week, on Indigenous People's day, REI Co-Op Studios released season one of the Reciprocity Project, a series of short films made by and about indigenous peoples with an emphasis on a longstanding connection to the earth. The Reciprocity Project is made possible by global nonprofit Nia Tero and purpose-driven storytellers the Upstander Project, in partnership with REI Co-op Studios. The project is one of the first of its kind to put the filmmaking power in the hands of indigenous filmmakers, asking the people themselves to be the tellers of their own stories. The films are just one part of a number of materials generated to encourage discussion and education about the people featured in the films and their respective relationships to the land. You can watch the seven films from season one and learn more about the Reciprocity Project here.
