Now is the Time for Innovation in Live Events

Live on Zoom - Wednesday, August 5th at 1:00PM PST

With music festivals on hold for the foreseeable future, 2020 has turned out to be an opportunity for those in the business of innovating live music experiences. The technology behind some of your favorite concerts and festivals is always evolving and progressing. But what happens when live events are cancelled? How do you engage your audience? How do you create environments for people to feel apart of - even from home?

For this stream, we are joined by Rich Thomas (Vice President of Communications, Culture & Content at Insomniac Events), and Heather Shaw (Founder, CEO, and Chief Designer at Vita Motus), as well as Ty Braswell (Host) who will walk us through the experience of entertaining and engaging a dedicated audience such as the EDM community, through a tumultuous year such as 2020.

Heather Shaw

Founder & CEO

Vita Motus

Heather Shaw, founder and CEO of Vita Motus Design Studio, leads a multi-dimensional career in environmental, architectural, industrial, and transportation design with a conscious emphasis on function and futuristic vision. She began her artistic education at ArtCenter College of Design, studying the scientific art of transportation design by industry leaders. Once graduated, she joined Audi and specialized in concept vehicle exteriors and future energy products.

An ever-evolving creative soul, Heather quickly began applying design strategies beyond the automotive world toward her passion and community rooted in festival culture and live music entertainment. Her relentless curiosity and magnetic character were met with successful momentum, engendering the birth of Vita Motus Design Studio. A fateful collaboration with Brazilian experimental sound artist, Amon Tobin, on his 2011 ISAM Tour established Vita Motus as an industry force. This voxelized set design pioneered the incorporation of video-mapping technology into live performance, setting trends that came to define the competition.

In the decade since inception, Vita Motus has developed into an innovative, multi-disciplinary production design firm driven by artistic passion and grounded in industrial expertise. The design and production teams specialize in the creation of ground-breaking concepts, high-tech productions, and inspirational sculptural installations for today’s most influential artists, festivals, and brands.
