Jordan Brand Initiates 20-year Partnership with Howard University

Last week, Nike’s Jordan brand announced a 20-year partnership with HBCU Howard University with an emphasis on creating athletic an academic opportunity for university students. Yes, the partnership will see influence on the university’s athletics in terms of uniforms, but the partnership extends beyond that. The partnership comes with a $100M commitment from Michael Jordan himself, with a focus placed on systemic change and creating opportunity for athletes and students alike. Change is promised in the form of improved recruitment opportunities, amplified influence of HBCU’s in collegiate sports, and advancement of work to organize for systemic change.
